San Diego, CA – Innovega Inc., a developer of next-generation smart eyewear for the visually impaired, announced the appointment of Arthur Zhang, PhD, as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Arthur, who initially joined Innovega as interim CTO, now transitions into a full-time role to lead the company’s product roadmap and innovation strategy.
Arthur previously lead the Systems Architecture and Systems Engineering team in the Vision Products Group at Apple, where he played a pivotal role in the design and launch of the Apple Vision Pro. Following the product’s release, he sought an opportunity to continue shaping the future of wearable vision technology, but with a sharper focus on accessibility, dignity, and social good. That mission led him to Innovega.

In his new role, Arthur will lead Innovega’s patient demonstration initiative, bringing a broader group of test participants into the company’s San Diego lab to collect and analyze data. These insights will help refine the company’s first commercial product, Innovega’s Gen I Smart Glasses, which aim to restore functional sight for millions living with severe vision loss.
