Senior Engineering Program Manager

About the Role

At Innovega, we are pioneering advanced electronics and contact lens technologies to create smart glasses for the low vision community. Our multidisciplinary team is developing cutting-edge solutions in optics, electronics, and wearable systems, to deliver solutions starting with low vision, and expanding to other assistive devices and broader consumer applications. As part of our engineering leadership, you'll play a critical role in bringing these innovations from concept to market.

We are seeking a Senior Engineering Program Manager with proven experience guiding products from R&D into production and market launch. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives in fast-paced environments, excels at cross-functional coordination, and wants to shape innovative products in wearable assistive technologies.

You will be responsible for planning, execution, and delivery of complex hardware and software programs, ensuring teams stay aligned, schedules are kept on track, and budgets are met. You'll collaborate across engineering, research, and executive levels while managing contract manufacturing partners to deliver high-quality, scalable products.

Responsibilities

  • Program Planning & Execution

    • Define and own program deliverables, schedules, budgets, identifying risks and mitigations.
    • Manage cross-functional alignment between engineering, research, industrial design, and executives.
    • Travel to our San Diego location and internationally as needed to support R&D, supply chain, and builds.
  • Manufacturing & Production

    • Coordinate with contract manufacturers and suppliers, primarily in Asia.
    • Oversee engineering builds, validation, and transition from prototype to production.
    • Ensure DFX (Design for Manufacturing, Assembly, Test, and Reliability) principles are applied.
    • Track and resolve issues during builds, escalating and aligning resources as needed.
  • Leadership & Collaboration

    Act as the central program point of contact across engineering and executive teams.
    Provide regular, clear updates on progress, risks, and trade-offs to leadership.
    Foster strong working relationships across technical, business, and partner teams.
    Support IT-related infrastructure and workflows that enable product development.

Qualifications

  • Required

    • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Engineering, Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
    • 5+ years of program or project management experience in product development.
    • Demonstrated track record of delivering at least one product to market in consumer electronics, medical devices, or wearables.
    • Experience working with international contract manufacturers and managing overseas builds.
    • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
    • Experience with project management, gantt chart tools.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills across technical and executive audiences.
  • Preferred

    • Managed HW and SW projects using waterfall and Agile development flows.
    • Engineering background in EE, ME, or optics.
    • Familiarity with IT infrastructure and supporting engineering workflows.

Compensation Range: $130,000 to $150,000 + restricted stock awards
